Old Perithia
The Ano Perithia or Old Perithia is a graphical village in north Corfu, built on 450 metres high on the slopes of mountain Pantoktator, 8 km far from Kassiopi. There are a lot of rumours about the provenance of the villages name from “ peri-thea” which mean “seen from the mountains around it”. This village is known from 300 B.C. when a destroyable tsounami hit the coast of the island. Those who survived looked up for a safer piece of land far away from the sea.
